How hard is it to pretend you have a PhD? Apparently, not all that hard.

This week, the Philadelphia Inquirer raised questions about the PhD of UPenn’s vice dean of the graduate school of education Doug Lynch – which apparently, is a fake.

Well, that’s one way to get a job in this economy.

A graduate school spokesperson claimed that Lynch believed the degree was completed. Columbia University, however, where the degree was supposedly from, maintains that it was not.

Is this for real? Can you even mistakenly believe you finished a PhD?

What will this do for UPenn’s reputation? Is it ethical to fake a PhD if it means supporting you and your family’s well being?
