How can the startup Planetary Resources become 30 times more valuable than Apple in a split second? By harnessing the precious metals in Amun 3554 that’s how. Planetary Resources is an asteroid-mining company which was launched on Tuesday in Seattle. Talk about a niche market! It is backed by Microsoft and Google billionaires and aims to dismember space rocks like Amun. Well who wouldn’t after learning the rock is worth over $20 trillion.  Apple is currently the world’s most valued company with a market cap around $500 billion. If Planetary Resources catches just one of these space rocks, it could mean an instant dethroning of Apple.

Is this a worthwhile venture?

Are there things worth more time and resources than catching space rocks?
