It’s about time that the military invested in proper armor for women. Roughly 14% of the U.S. military are women, yet they have never had gear and armor specifically designed for their body types. Without proper armor, these women have had a larger chance of sustaining injuries from schrapnel or bullets entering the gaps. Women soldiers in Afghanistan are testing the retooled armor now, and if they are happy with them, the Army hopes to provide them to a full women’s division next year.
