While it may have meant a couple days off from school for many college students, Hurricane Sandy lived up to the hype as it caused massive damage on the East coast. The Department of Energy reported that roughly 8.2 million homes were left without power from the hurricane.  The cost of damage to properties and businesses has been estimated anywhere between $10 and $20 billion dollars.

The boardwalk on the Jersey shore has been decimated, homes have been destroyed and water has infiltrated the homes of countless families.  The subways in New York have flooded, many people were unable to get to work and the death toll has risen to 38.

Mother Nature has shown her ugly head again as we bear witness to her brute strength. In a breath of fresh air from the 2012 Election, hopefully the country will come together in yet another time of crisis as there are millions of people in need of assistance.
