If anyone has been on Facebook these last eighteen hours, you’ll know that President Barack Obama was re-elected. Despite a large electoral win, Mr. Obama now has to deal with a very much divided country. There is no doubt that his re-election is historical; his victory marks the first time since 1816 that this country has seen three consecutive two-term presidents. Governor Romney and his team were all set to contest several close calls last night, but ultimately conceded when it became clear that there was no chance of victory. This has been an aggressive race for both candidates. Mr. Obama’s re-election was met with jubilant cries in the streets, but despite this win, the real test is yet to come.
