Go outside today yet? Notice anything? IT’S HOT AS HELL. 90+ degrees seems a little off for almost the middle of September, but if you think this is as hot as it gets, you’re dead wrong.

London is known for being cold and rainy, but there’s one area of the city – one small section of sidewalk, to be exact – where you can literally fry an egg on the sidewalk on any given day. It gets as hot as 158 degrees!

Heat lamps? Volcanoes? How is one small patch of an otherwise damp and chilly city SO HOT?!

Because of a building.

The “Walkie-Talkie” skyscraper has an unusual curved shape that reflects a concentrated beam of sunlight onto the streets below, leading to fried eggs (I wouldn’t eat that), melted cars, and scorched inventory in the shops below.

The Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas has also had a similar problem.

So if you think it’s hot today…at least your lunch wasn’t cooked on the sidewalk.
